Lavender & Cedarwood Shampoo Bar

Ask a question

Plastic bottles clutter our bathrooms and landfills. There are so many ways to do our part to reduce, reuse, or recycle. Bar shampoos are an alternative to bottles of liquid shampoo and are better for your hair. Made of natural ingredients, bar shampoos reduce not only plastic, but the chemicals in your life as well. Just rub bar on your hands or directly on your hair to work up a lather. Wash and rinse as usual. 3 oz and 1 oz sizes

Lavender & Cedarwood is nourishing shampoo bar with lavender and cedarwood essential oils which relax you. Perfect if you shower before bed. Available in 3 oz bar only.

Using a shampoo bar is easy!
Just take theĀ lotion barĀ into your hands and warm it with body heat,. This softens the bar so you can either rub the bar onto the body part that needs moisturizing, or you can rub it in your hands and use your hands to apply the lotion.

Shampoo bars have great benefits
Natural ingredients are better on your hair
You do not need to put it in your TSA 311 bag
Eliminates plastic in landfills
But sometimes when we begin using shampoo bars, it makes our hair feel...weird. That's because our hair has to get used to the "natural" part of shampoo. There is a detoxification process that happens when you start using any natural ingredient, whether it is healthier foods or different shampoo. Give it time, and you will find that:
Your hair will be healthier, stronger, and shinier
It will be easier to manage
You will be able to go longer in between shampooing

Use it for at least a month, and then if it isn't working out better for you, try a different bar. Not all bars are created for all types of hair. For my hair, I have tried all of the shampoo bars I offer, but I am currently using the Charcoal and Tea Tree shampoo bar which works with my scalp and hair both.

If it feels there is a "build up" on your hair, use an apple cider vinegar rinse, that is easy to make for yourself and leave in the shower. (Pro tip: It helps keep build up off of the shower also.) Use the rinse one or two times a week, rather than every time you shampoo. If you can't stand the smell of vinegar, you can add a few essential oils to make it smell better. (Essential oils have different properties too, so do your research on those as well.)

If your hair feels dry or straw like, you might want to use a conditioner bar. I am working on a new formula for one that I hope is coming in September. Also, coconut oil can be drying, so you might find a shampoo bar with a glycerin, shea butter or milk base to it. The shampoo bars at Yellow Sun have a goat's milk base or a glycerin base and shea butter or cocoa butter may be added.

Also, remember that anything that is "soap" was made with lye. It isn't lye at the end of the saponification process, it is soap or saponified oils. The oils are what is important. Different oils have different qualities. That is more of an indicator of how the shampoo bar will work with your hair.
